Natural Reserves
The Yucatan Peninsula has plenty of natural reserves. In addition to its reefs and turquoise waters, which are home to species such as dolphins, sea turtles, whale sharks, and a diverse array of fish, there are other ecosystems such as tropical rainforests, mangroves, swamps, cenotes, and underground caves.
These habitats are home to unique wildlife such as jaguars, opossums, coatis, spider monkeys, howler monkeys, crocodiles, and various types of birds, among others, making this destination an invaluable gem for nature enthusiasts. Most of the services offered in these natural areas directly benefit the communities, as they are generally managed through cooperatives of local maya population.
